The 10th International Podocyte Conference is the most respected and influential international conference in the field of podocyte study. This three-day program will bring together the world’s leading researchers, students and young scientists to report new insights and understanding in podocyte and glomerular biology.
Full details, including registration, accommodations and the conference agenda can be found at www.podoconf.org.
June 4-6, 2014
Albert Ludwigs University of Freiburg
The goal of the conference is to share the latest research on kidney podocytes, as distinguished researchers collaborate to find a cure. Glomerular research is at a tipping point where basic knowledge is being translated into novel therapeutic approaches for patients, while a new era of personalized medicine is approaching nephrology.
Attendees will include renowned clinicians, scientists, glomerular biologists and translational nephrologists who are unlocking the mechanisms of glomerular diseases, the leading cause of kidney disease.
Support for the conference (to date) is being provided by The NephCure International Kidney Foundation, Retrophin, Alexion, Bayer Health Care, Fresenius Medical Care, Hexal, Evotec, Trisaq, AMGEN, Pfizer, Roche and Questcor. The conference has ben endorsed by ISN (International Society of Nephrologists) and ERA-EDTA.
The deadline for submitting abstracts to The Podocyte Scientific Committee was March 31, 2014. Completed research or research-in-progress is allowed, and all entrants will be notified by April 15, 2014 as to whether it has been accepted as a poster or short talk. Please visit http://podoconf.org/call-for-papers/ for more information about the new abstract submission criteria.

Here is the final programme of the 4. International HUS meeting in Innsbruck.
At this meeting we would like to discuss with international colleagues the different facettes (genetics, pathophysiology, diagnostics, clinical courses, therapies) of hemolytic uremic syndrome (HUS). In 2011 the typical HUS got quite some attention due to the EHEC O104:H4 outbreak in Northern Germany. However, other microorganisms, such as pneumococci, or genetic predispositions or mutations favour or cause, respectively, HUS as well. The related thrombotic thrombocytopenic purpura (TTP) will form another focus of this meeting.
Eighteen European experts have accepted our invitation to present their data, plus four from overseas (US, CA, AR).
You are invited to attend and register and submit an abstract for a short oral presentation or a poster via our homepage: http://www.hus-online.at
The meeting covers both basic research and clinical aspects and we will have a session covering the three most interesting clinical cases – please also submit these via the abstract submission site at http://www.hus-online.at
If you want to go for reasonable travel options, please consider, instead of flying to Innsbruck via Frankfurt or Vienna, to fly to and from Munich and take a Four-Seasons shuttle which will drop you at the door step of the hotel (takes approx. 2.5 – 3 hours). For your calculations a round trip Munich-Innsbruck with that shuttle costs 72 Euros (please mention “HUS” and book via firstname.lastname@example.org or email@example.com ).
The dinner will take place at the Seegrube, have a look: http://www.nordkette.com/en. The costs are included in the registration fee!
The accompanying person’s fee is just 50 Euro, which actually only just covers the costs of the cable car and dinner at the Seegrube – so it is a good opportunity to see Innsbruck!
You can obviously book your accommodation at any hotel in town – the venue will be at the Hotel Grauer Bär, Universitätsstr. 3:http://www.innsbruck-hotels.at/hotel-grauer-baer/das-hotel/, where we have reserved quite a number of rooms at a special price. If you book directly at Grauer Bär – which obviously means Grey Bear, but is safe otherwise – it will cost 78 Euros for a single and 120 Euros for a double room. However, there are other hotels within walking distance (10-15 min). If you stay at Hotel Grauer Bär you can pay your registration fee by credit card on the spot. If you stay elsewhere, registrations fees must be paid by bank transfer before, or in cash at the registration desk of the meeting.

It is with pleasure that we invite you to attend the 12th International Workshop on Developmental Nephrology, to be held at the University of Edinburgh, from June 24-26, 2013. This workshop, entitled “From Basic Science to Therapeutics”, will include presentations of the most up to date and pioneering research on the development of the kidney and urogenital system and relate this research to the current understanding of kidney disease in children. This workshop has historically been attended by basic scientists and pediatric nephrologists who come together to exchange ideas that will lead to new treatments for childhood kidney disease.
